Produced and performed by daegeum player and ethnomusicologist Hyelim Kim, An Introduction to the Daegeum is a filmed guide to one of Korea's most representative traditional instruments. With concise explanations, clear instructions, and demonstrations of fundamental techniques, the DVD offers a calm and accessible entry point for anyone meeting the daegeum for the first time — students, musicians, researchers, or simply the curious.
While teaching daegeum in London, Hyelim found that there was no resource she could place in a new student's hands. An Introduction to the Daegeum was made to fill that gap.
